Pioneer Day

After being in Moab and experiencing the crazy terrain and heat, I gained a new appreciation for the pioneers. I still cannot comprehend their courage, strength and faith.

On Pioneer Day, we went to the parade in Spanish Fork…

Ashton, Druw and Charlie

Then we went swimming at Ed and Lindsey’s….

We ended our day at the Carr’s for a BBQ and more fireworks.  We also celebrated all the July birthdays.  Josh, Nate, Nicole, Druw, Emmy, Ethan, and I’m sorry to the last one I am forgetting!!!…

Moab, Utah!!!

For Josh’s birthday, I surprised him with a tiny trip down to Moab (WITHOUT THE KIDDIES!!!).  It took a little bit of sneakiness and I almost failed at the very end but I pulled it off!!!  I asked if he would come home early on Friday to come with us to Seven Peaks.  I didn’t think this would work, he always has too much to do.  When he got home, the babysitter was ready to take over and we went to get some lunch.  We ate at a little park nearby…

I gave Josh his birthday present: some super lame water shoes and a description of our adventure-filled Saturday.  He was clearly thinking, “Fabulous.  This will be great…someday when our kids have graduated from high school.”  He was surprised even more when I told him our bags were already in his car and we were heading to Moab right then!!!  It was soooo great!!!

We hiked to Delicate Arch, it was absolutely incredible!!!  We went on a Hummer Tour which really made me want to go WATCH, not participate in necessarily, the Jeep Safari in April.  Crazy fun!!!!  Then we went river rafting.  The river was very high which covered up a lot of the rapids, but we had some wild rides.  This just made us hungry for MORE river rafting with BIGGER rapids!  It was just way soooo soooo much fun!!!!

I just can’t even tell you how much I love Josh.  He still cracks me up all day long.  He still compliments me every time he sees me.  He is still my best friend and even more than ever, I could NOT live without him.  I LOVE YOU, JOSH!!!  I am the luckiest!!!  Happy Birthday!!!

My Baby is ONE YEAR OLD!!!

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!  I truly cannot believe that Ethan is ONE!  When I really sit for a second and think about how quickly time goes by, I honestly have trouble breathing and tears come instantly to my eyes!!!  MAKE IT STOP!!!!

On Ethan’s birthday, we went swimming at Rich and Dallas’.  It was a gorgeous day and a perfect birthday afternoon for Ethan.

Chillin’ on Uncle Rob’s lap.  Sooooo cute.  He just sat there comfy as can be for 30 minutes.

We had a tiny birthday celebration the next day.  We kept it very low key with just our little fam.  Ashton and Emmy LOVED picking out gifts for Ethan.  Ethan had lots of help opening his presents, blowing out his candles and eating his cake. 🙂

And, just like Ashton and Emmy, he HATED having frosting all over him and it wasn’t long before he freaked out.

Aside from the VERY rare freak out, this little guy is just sooo mellow and content.  He is a perfect angel and is so patient with Emmy and Ashton who love him to pieces and can never get enough hugs, kisses or tackles.  Yes, tackles.  Poor guy.  I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love my sweet little Ethan.

Emmy is FOUR!!!!

The night before Emmy’s birthday, I was tucking her in her bed and I said,”Emmy, this is the last day that you will be THREE.  When you wake up you will be FOUR!!!”  I was trying to say it to make her so excited, but after the first sentence, a huge lump formed in my throat and tears filled my eyes and I could barely say the last part.  I was not expecting the sadness of having her be so OLD!

ANYHOO, she requested a TANGLED birthday party.  It turned out to be so much fun!

First things first – the invitations!  Emmy insisted on delivering the invitations in her Rapunzel dress AND going up to the doors all by herself.  I could hear her at one door say,”YOU ARE INVITED TO MY RAPUNZEL BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!!”  Pretty cute!

We invited the girls to come dressed as their favorite princess. They were all SOOOOO ADORABLE!!!!

As we waited for all the girls to arrive, they colored pictures of Rapunzel at the table.

The girls made Pascal Party Blowers (with a little help from Ashton and my hot glue gun).

Then we played Pin the Pan on Flynn Rider.

By then it was time for a cupcake break.

The girls made candy necklaces.  I thought this might be a little bit difficult for 3 & 4-year-olds but they did GREAT!

How can you keep little girls from playing together with barbies?  You can’t and it was just so cute   They played for a while until THE PRINCESSES ARRIVED!!!

We had the princesses from Party with Princesses come help with the last hour of the party.   It was a complete surprise for Emmy and the girls and it was truly MAGICAL!  The little princesses just stood there in shock as the “Real” Princesses came in.  They warmed up pretty quickly and were soon gathered around, wanting hugs and asking a million questions.  It was soooo sweet!!!

The Princesses sang songs, played “Princess, Princess, Queen”, and taught them how to curtsey.  Then they joined us as we sang  “Happy Birthday” to Emmy and helped her blow out her candles.  After Emmy made her wish and blew out the candles, the Princesses helped each little girl write her own wish on a ribbon.  We tied the ribbons to balloons and took them outside to let them go (instead of the floating lanterns from the movie).  I don’t know what all the wishes were but Emmy wished that she could be a real princess (of course).  Ashton and Banks even wanted to make a wish.  Banks wished for a Wii (hear that, Tara? 🙂 ) and Ashton wished for a totally fun birthday party.

After the balloons, we took a few pictures.  Then we had a Princess Parade as the “Real” Princesses walked all the girls back to their homes.  This party was LEGENDARY, thanks to PARTY WITH PRINCESSES!!!!

4th of July!!!

I LOVE it when the Fourth of July is on a Sunday or Monday, like it has been the past two years.  It turns into a whole weekend of parties, which is the only appropriate way to celebrate, if you ask me.  This was our weekend…

Freedom Run

I could have used some more pool time to make my 4th of July perfect, but it was still pretty fabulous.
