Yesterday, Ethan was complaining that his mouth hurt. His lip was pretty swollen so we just figured he bumped his mouth. He had been really irritable all day and small things would just put him over the edge and he’d be in tears. It was a hard day but I gave him some Tylenol and put him to bed. This morning it was all the same. He was sooo sad and his lip and cheek were swollen. I became concerned….no, I started panicking. I was immediately sure he had some kind of tooth problem, specifically an abcess. He would NOT let me look in his mouth. He wouldn’t open his mouth at all, really. He mumbled everything and cried and cried. I told him I would take him to the doctor and usually that idea miraculously cures everything. But Ethan was so happy. He asked when we were going and wanted the doctor to fix his mouth. So I took him to the doctor, which was open today LUCKILY!!!!
That huge explanation above is to preface my most embarrassing parent moment ever…So the doctor was checking around in Ethan’s mouth. He was testing all the teeth. He couldn’t find anything and he was a little perplexed. Until, BAM! He found it! What? WHAT COULD IT BE?!?!?!? Oh my, I am too embarrassed to even type it. Okay, here I go. It was a canker sore. Yep, that’s all that was causing his whole little cheek and lip to swell up. It was pretty big, but OH MY. So. Embarrassed. I am a freak mom. I win for being the spazziest, hypochondriac mom. And, by the way, last night Josh said,”It’s probably just a canker sore.”
So we went to church and I taught my lesson. Then we went to Grammy’s for dinner. I snapped this sweet interaction, Paw teaching Ethan all about his garden. Too cute!
