Ashton met the Cub Scouts at the pavilion this morning at 6:45 to go to Camp Jeremiah Johnson.
Ashton had A BLAST at day camp. He came home sooooo happy! On the way home, Sister Silver got pulled over for speeding. The cop saw that she had a car load of scouts and let her off easy and gave all the boys cop badge stickers.
We got to go to the MoTab Pioneer Day Concert tonight. It was so good, of course. It started out with pioneer videos with songs and then it turned into a Broadway celebration. It was all great, but I really wish that it could have been all about the pioneers and America. The choir sang “Come, Come, Ye Saints” and I lost it! I have always thought about it as pioneers crossing the plains, it was THEIR song to me. But as they sang the 2nd verse, it hit me. THIS IS FOR US!!! THIS SONG IS FOR ME RIGHT NOW!!!!! Maybe I am just slow, but it was a gigantic eye-opening moment for me:
“Why should we mourn, or think our lot is hard. Tis not so, all is right. Why should we think to earn a great reward, if we now shun the fight. Gird up your loins, fresh courage take, our God will never us forsake. And soon we’ll have this tale to tell, All is well! All is well!”
