Last night when Josh and I were talking about Arlington, he asked how the Vietnam Military Memorial was. I just about died finding out that we had not seen it! Being our last day, Josh woke up early with me and we went to see it together. He is my perfect man. It was my favorite part of this whole week. The memorial was INCREDIBLE. Breathtaking. So awesome. And all around the memorial were so many veterans, most of them being pushed along in wheelchairs. We started talking to a sweet old lady and I just couldn’t hold back the tears as I gave her a hug and thanked her. Then Josh started crying and then we went on, thanking all the veterans we came upon, shaking their hands, hugging and crying. I sure love my Josh. If either of us senses the tears of the other, neither of us can hold back our own. He feels what I feel and can usually express it in words when I can’t.
The others were still having breakfast so Josh and I went to the Air and Space Museum. It was super cool.
Then we met the rest of our peeps at the Natural History Museum. Josh and I helped a lost 3 year old find her dad, we saw The Hope Diamond and some other cool stuff. There’s just SO MUCH!!!!!
We were running out of time so I made everyone go to the Museum of American History. There were such fabulous things there! We saw the Nauvoo Sun Stone (one of 2 that survived), Dorothy’s Ruby Slippers, other pop culture memorabilia. BUT THE VERY BEST THING EEEEEVER!!!! EEEEVEEERRRR! And we almost just walked right on by, was The Star Spangled Banner Exhibit. We saw THE ACTUAL Star Spangled Banner that was flying during the American Revolution that inspired the song. Unreal!
(No cameras allowed) Then Brandon and Tonya had to catch their flight. We stayed and had lunch then headed off to the airport, also. What a dream week.
