My sweet, beautiful, way funny cousin, Diana, got married this past weekend in Las Vegas. Thanks to AWESOME Nick and Nicole, we were able to leave our kids for the weekend and party with MOST of my siblings who also were childless for a couple days.
My family went to the Las Vegas Temple open house before it was dedicated in 1985. I was 9 and it was the first temple I had ever been through and I KNEW I would get married there. It is still very beautiful inside.
After the sealing, we went back to the hotel in time to watch the Belmont Stakes (and perhaps place a few tiny bets). It was WAAAAAY fun. The casino got really crowded and everyone was going nuts for about 30 seconds. My life lesson from this experience: Go with your first impression, NOT the popular, safe choice!!!! Oh my goodness! DROSSELMEYER! DROSSELMEYER!!!!
After Diana and Stephen had their first dance, all the couples were invited to join them. I was so excited to dance with Josh and when I turned to find him, he was gone. At first I was annoyed and kind of mad! Then I found him on the dance floor already, dancing with my sweet, SWEET Grandma. Her wedding anniversary happened to be on this very day. My Grandpa passed away two years ago. So you see why tears were immediately burning my eyes and I was sooooo grateful for such a thoughtful, sweet husband. Josh and my Grandma Harris ADORE each other. This was probably the highlight of my whole weekend.
What a gorgeous, fun Memorial Day we had! The kids played with their friends all morning, then we decided to go to the pool. We were going to go on Friday AND Saturday but both of those days were freezing. Here are my transparently white children….
That’s Westin in the background doing a back float. He is fearless!
Emmy just liked to lay in the water. She kept saying “This is so comfy!”
Cari and Linz
Then we went to Jessi’s for a BBQ. The kids had a blast playing with their cousins.
Cari giving Josh some pointers..
Emmy LOVES Lucy
Emmy played with Lucy almost the whole time we were there. It’s crazy how much she loves dogs. Lucy is so huge, it would be like me playing with a grizzly bear but not as dangerous.
Everyone was at Jessi’s except for Mom, Dad, and Angie’s fam. We missed you guys!
What a long, happy day for my two sweeties. Here they are 5 minutes into the car ride home.
Yesterday was the last day of preschool for Ashton (until next year when he gets to go to preschool for one more year). Last night they had their graduation program. OH HOW WILL WE LIVE WITHOUT PRESCHOOL ALL SUMMER!?!?!?! I LOVE PRESCHOOL!!!!! Miss Courtney is THE best and Ashton had so much fun and learned so much!
(This is all three of the classes, not all were in Ash’s class)
The program was short and sweet, unlike ALL other HORRIBLY boring graduation ceremonies I have been to. I guess I have the attention span of a 4 year-old. They did the Pledge of Allegiance (I LOOOOVE that Ashton knows it) and then they sang some cute songs. Emmy was very supportive. She stood the whole time and clapped vigorously after each song.
Here is my sweet little Ashton receiving his diploma…I just keep thinking of “The Incredibles” when Bob freaks out about having to go to Dash’s, what was it, his elementary school graduation or something. He yells, “They keep creating ways to celebrate mediocrity!” Yeah, preschool’s no big deal, but it’s freaking CUTE!!!
Ashton and Emmy had their last swimming lesson on Saturday. Ashton might have improved a tiny bit. He isn’t afraid to do back floats, but that’s about all I can see as progress. Oh well. They got to play a little bit on the last day….
Here is Ashton with his Report Card
As you can see, he “learned” all the skills they taught (I’m a little skeptical)
Emmy was so excited to get her own Report Card
It was pretty accurate
Sadly, besides Nursery, Emmy failed the first class she has ever been in…
They were both very proud of each other, or maybe they were just so happy that swimming lessons are over
We promised Ashton and Emmy that we would take them to Pirate Island when Emmy was totally potty trained. Welp, Ashton reminded us yesterday of our little deal and we were more than happy to go since we had no idea what to make for dinner.
The kids had a blast. Their favorite game to play was Skee Ball (sp???). Even though it was a miniature version, the lane height still made it impossible for a smooth roll of the ball. I wonder how many kids have been hit in the head with those very hard balls.
